O/EE 50th Anniversary Calendar of Events

For 50 years Amigo has provided meaningful and memorable Outdoor / Environmental Education experiences.  To date, we have served nearly 76,000 Pre-K through high school age students.  Given that the pandemic is limiting our ability to host school groups, we have decided to get creative and offer outdoor education experiences for all ages to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the O/EE program.  Listed at the bottom of this page is a tentative calendar of our ideas and plans.

Back in 1971, York Elementary Principal Dale Stutzman had a vision. He wanted to create a program where school children could enjoy the beauty of Amigo, while learning about the wonders of the natural world.  Together with sixth grade teacher Dan Hochstetler, they began to brainstorm - the seeds of the present day O/EE program taking root in their conversations and actions.  Dale & Dan, thank you for your vision!

Opportunities for an O/EE experience this year are not limited to the 50th Anniversary Events.  If you are interested in learning other outdoor skills or setting up a time to bring a group out to participate in an Outdoor / Environmental Education field trip you can learn more about what we offer by clicking on this link or calling (269)651-2811.
