Full Moon / "Blue Moon" Campfires
August 21st & 22nd
6:00 - 10:00 pm
Our August Full Moon Campfires will provide a space for you to celebrate the end of summer, while enjoying watching the "Blue Moon" rise over Perrin Lake. You are invited to arrive any time after 6:00 pm to enjoy some outdoor summer fun prior to the moonrise. Each group will have a designated campfire circle where you can enjoy engaging in good conversation as the moon rises over the lake.
What makes the August full moon a "Blue Moon" has nothing to do with its color. It is called a Blue Moon because it happens to be the third full moon in a season of four full moons. A season is defined as the period between a solstice and an equinox, and most of the time there are only three full moons in a season.
The phrase "once in a blue moon" means "not very often" and the occurrence of four full moons in a season generally only happens every couple of years.
You may wonder why the special title for the third full moon and not the fourth? Then come learn more about this at our "Blue Moon" campfires
Activity options include:
...canoeing ...disc golf … hiking our trails
... prayerfully walking through our labyrinth
