Summer Camp at Camp Amigo

Camp Amigo is all about exploring nature, ourselves, and God in a fun and exciting environment. It is our goal that every camper comes away from Amigo with new friends, skills, and the knowledge that they are important and cared for. Each day of camp includes activities for each cabin group such as canoeing or co-op games, a free choice activity such as gaga ball or giant bubbles, and swimming in our lake. Day Camp: age 6-13

Cost: $160/week
Day Camp provides a wonderful opportunity for campers who want to spend their evenings and nights at home but join in on the camp experience. Day Campers are welcome to come as many weeks throughout the summer as they are able. Day Camp runs Monday through Friday each week, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Day Campers must have completed Kindergarten to attend.

Overnight Camp: age 8-13​

​Cost: $380/week
​Overnight camp is an awesome opportunity for campers to experience all of the elements of summer camp. In addition to the Day Camp activities, overnight campers experience evening campfires, cookouts, night hikes, a campout, and more. All the while spending time in nature, learning more about God, and forming meaningful friendships. Overnight Camp runs from Sunday afternoon until Friday afternoon. 

Autism Day Camp: age 6-13

Cost: $160
Autism Day Camp is a great opportunity for kids who are on the spectrum to come and participate in everything that Day Camp at Amigo has to offer, while also being provided the supports that are necessary to make the experience successful and fun.  Our whole staff is trained on best-practices for helping to support children with autism, and each camper is paired with a one-on-one counselor whose sole focus for the week is providing the specific supports needed by each child to have a wonderful week at camp. If you are interested in signing up your child for Autism Camp, please call (269-651-2811 ext 103) or email our Program Director, Colton Eby ([email protected]).  Limited Availability

Kind Camp: age 6-13 & caregiver

Cost: $180 per camper; $250 per adult ($900 maximum per family)
A week of summer camp for children who are chronically ill, neurodiverse, or disabled, along with their families. Experience the memories and fun of traditional summer camp with the specialized support your family needs to thrive. Campers (ages 6-13) with disabilities and their siblings join Amigo's Day Camp program in the morning, with trained one-on-one staff supporting each disabled camper. Families spend afternoons and evenings participating in activities tailored to the abilities and interests of participants.

​Experience Camp is a way for families to experience camp together. Campers ages 6-13 join our Day Camp program from 7:30am-5:30pm. Adults and others outside of camper age will have time throughout the day to work remotely, relax, or even leave camp property. When the Day Camp schedule ends, enjoy the use of our Retreat Center and a staff led activity in the evening. Perfect for Campers who are interested in Amigo but not sure if they want to do overnight camp. Experience Camp runs Sunday through Thursday.

What to Bring to Camp
Greetings from Camp Amigo! We are excited that you are coming to camp, and we are working to prepare a great week for you.  We will have boating, swimming, fishing, carpet ball, nine square in the air, gaga ball, silly songs, hiking, cookouts, picnics, crafts, great stories, campfire songs, and more!

What to Bring:
  • Sleeping bag    
  • Pillow    
  • Towel and washcloth
  • Soap and other personal toiletries (Overnight Campers only)    
  • Clothing for warm and cool weather
  • Rain jacket
  • Swimsuit (girls-1 piece or modest 2-piece/boys-boxer style)

  • Prescription medications in their original packaging (to be given to the nurse at check-in)

**Please put your child’s name on all items brought to camp.

  • Food and gum (They attract mice and ants to the cabins, and we will provide plenty of food.)
  • Electronic devices (including cell phones, tablets, ipads, and music playing devices)
  • Cameras (we will upload pictures every day that you will receive access to)
  • Knives, firearms, tobacco, alcohol, other illegal substances

FAQ's

When I bring my camper, where do we go? ​
Please follow the posted signs and personnel who will greet you in the parking lot. From there, we will be registering campers using a safe and secure method. In your registration confirmation email you will receive specific instructions. If you have completed your registration online and did not receive an email, please contact us to make sure you get that email. ​
Can I see pictures of my camper throughout the week?
Yes! We love to share photos of our campers throughout the week. We will send you a Google Photos link to see pictures of the week your campers are here. We will try our very best to post pictures everyday, but forgive us if we are having too much fun and miss a day. ​​
How does Amigo choose their counselors?
We search for high school and college-aged staff who are passionate about working with children, living and working in community with other believers, and strive to learn more about Christ and Christ’s role in their lives.  At Amigo Centre, safety is our number one priority. All of our summer staff go through a screening process of background checks and reference checks. They are then interviewed before they are offered a position. ​​
Is there a camp store at registration where I can purchase items I forgot?

Yes, there is! We’ve got toothbrushes, toothpaste, soaps, and shampoos available in our gift shop (Nature's Nook) in the Retreat Center. We also have Amigo merchandise available. Just ask at the registration table.
Should I send money with my camper?
Your camper will not need any money throughout the week.  At pickup, you will have the opportunity to visit the camp gift shop (Nature's Nook) with your camper and may purchase other Amigo Centre apparel and gifts then.
Can my camper bring a cell phone?  ​
Amigo seeks to offer a week of fun and growth away from technology; immersed in nature and community.  Campers that bring cell phones are asked to give it to the Youth Program Director where it is kept in a labeled plastic bag until they are ready to go home.
Will my camper receive a t-shirt?
You bet! Every camper will receive this year’s camp t-shirt during Check-in.
​How does Amigo handle homesickness?
​The summer staff at Amigo realize that homesickness can be a struggle for some campers, regardless of age. Our goal is for all campers to have an exciting and enjoyable experience. When homesickness arises, our staff spend time with the camper, keeping them distracted from their fears and focused on the fun of camp. We read stories, do puzzles, draw pictures and write letters home. If homesickness occurs at bedtime, we try our best to keep the campers occupied until they fall asleep. If homesickness persists and is taking away from the camp experience, we may call you and discuss options.
Can I pick up my camper early?
If you need to pick your camper up before Check-out, call our office (269-651-2811) and we will get you in touch with the Youth Program Director. We prefer campers to stay for the full duration of the camp they are registered for, and we understand that life continues outside of camp. We will do our best to have your camper ready to leave when you arrive.
