Amigo Centre Family Retreats

We are excited to be welcoming guests back to Amigo Centre. We've been working overtime to make sure all of our guests and staff are safe. Here are a few of the ways that we are able to serve you in the coming weeks. As guidance, rules and laws change some of what we have listed here may change. We will do our best to keep this up to date.
  • Amigo Centre’s West Shore Lodge and Retreat Center are open for single households to rent.
    • West Shore Lodge (WSL) is a four bedroom cabin with two shared bathrooms, a full kitchen and air conditioning. Linens are not provided. This is a perfect spot for a family with kids and allows for a family retreat in a spot set apart from the rest of camp. The cost for this family retreat space is $150 per night.
    • The Retreat Center has been divided into four suites. Each suite has a meeting space with a fridge, microwave and sink. Each room has air conditioning and private bathrooms. The cost for this is $100 per night per room.
  • Amigo Park has been open since Mid-June. At this time we are only open for campers who have a self-contained bathroom. Our bathhouse is currently closed. Like Amigo Park’s Facebook to stay up-to-date on what is open.
  • If you and your family would like to spend a day at Amigo Centre, our pavilion and the attached meeting room is available just for the day. This provides you with an air conditioned space with a restroom, a sink, fridge and microwave. The fee includes use of canoes, access to trails and swim area.
  • Cheryl Mast, our Outdoor Education Coordinator, is available to lead families on a nature hike, canoeing around the lake or any number of other activities. There is a fee that is dependent on the activity chosen.
If you're interested in exploring this further give us a call to determine dates and time for your reservation 269-651-2811

Since we are located in Michigan our current state executive orders in effect state that we cannot have more than 10 people in an indoor gathering. If you are indoors you are required to wear a mask. Mask wearing must occur in any indoor public spaces. Outdoors we may not have more than 100 individuals gathered. Social distancing is required. If you cannot maintain social distance then a mask is required to be worn.

Amigo Centre has put the following things in place to ensure your safety:
  • Staff are monitoring their health every day and procedures are in place for any symptoms or possible exposures that might come up.
  • Each designated family area has been assigned a color to make it clear which areas are for which family.
  • Staff, while inside, will wear a mask.
  • Food service is now available for your time here. Guests will come to the dining hall with masks and pickup their food and either return to their designated areas or find their favorite place outside to eat.
  • Cleaning procedures have been updated to ensure that they are in line with CDC guidelines and use EPA approved disinfectant.
  • Some buildings like the nature center and gym are closed.
While at Amigo Centre we ask guests do the following:
  • Monitor your health. If you begin to experience symptoms or become aware of a potential exposure be prepared to leave Amigo Centre. (We are not prepared to be a quarantine site.)
  • Do not enter another guest area.
  • If interacting with a staff member or another guest indoors that you wear a mask and maintain six feet of space.
  • If interacting with a staff member or another guest outdoors that you maintain six feet of distance.
  • Please do not invite others to spend time at Amigo who are outside of your household. We are trying to limit how many people are at Amigo Centre at one time.
  • Provide Amigo Centre with contact information in case the need arises for contact tracing.

What all comes with a reservation or stay at Amigo Centre?
  • Access to a canoe, life jackets and paddles. An Amigo staff member will provide instruction on how to safely use them.
  • You’re welcome to fish if you have a Michigan fishing license. These can be purchased online.
  • All of the trails are open and available to use.
  • A campfire ring. This can be used for cooking or just enjoying.
  • Our Nature Center is not open but we will have bird, tree and other various identification books available for you to use. We have designed a number of scavenger hunts and outdoor activities that you will be able to do while you are here.
  • Craft projects are also available. These are ready to go in individual packets and can be done on  your own schedule in you own designated space.
  • Use of the swim area is open and available to guests at Amigo Centre.

There are a number of other staff led activities such as a pontoon ride, a nature hike, an outdoor cooking class or archery that can be scheduled but would require an extra fee.

Can we come with multiple families? Sure, we’d ask that you spend your time together outdoors. Please avoid sharing indoor space. This reduces the chances of something being spread.

Can family or friends come up and spend the day with us? We’d ask that only those that are staying here at camp be here. We are limiting how many people are here at one time.

Are you serving food? Yes we are. We'd love to take this task off your hands. Right now food is being served in our dining hall in a to-go format. You're able to take it and return to your indoor space or find a nice place to eat outside. All food is served in a cafeteria style and you do still need to bring your mask. If you'd prefer to bring your own food that is fine too.

What do I need to bring?
  • Sleeping bag or blankets. (we don't have the equipment to wash our quilts or comforters every week. Sheets, pillows and towels are provided in the retreat center. If you're in West Shore Lodge you'll need to bring your own linens)
  • Food (If you aren't taking meals with us)
  • Toiletries
  • Bug spray
  • Games
  • Books
  • DVD's or downloaded movies. (We encourage everyone to spend time outside but know sometimes all you want to do is sit and relax while watching a show or movie. Our internet doesn't handle streaming the best.)
