E3 - Survival Skills for Life

We believe that by engaging, empowering and equipping youth,  we position them for success and we strengthen our communities!

E³ - Survival Skills for Life Program is a partnership between Amigo Centre and Goshen Middle School

What: E³ (engaging, equipping, empowering) - Survival Skills for Life Program

Who: each year we accept eighteen at-risk boys into the program who are entering 6th grade at Goshen Middle School (up to 2 boys from each of the seven Goshen Elementary Schools, plus 4 additional individuals)

When & Where:
Survival Camp at Amigo Centre (Sturgis, MI) - An overnight camping experience each June.

Monthly Sessions - During the school year, we meet once a month on the second Friday afternoon from 3:45-6:00 pm at the Goshen First United Methodist Church -Garage-Pavilion-Storage (GPS) building (1212 W. Plymouth Ave.)

End of Year Celebration at GMS - May 14, 2021: this event  will provide an opportunity for the guys to share the skills they've learned during the year with their
families and community supporters.

How: staffed with a mix of Amigo staff, Goshen Middle School staff and mentors approved through Goshen Middle School.

Why: by empowering, engaging and equipping at-risk youth we give them tools to be successful leaders in their school and community.

Objectives for the Program:
  • Empower through teaching many life skills (technical skills and interpersonal skills) and nurturing leadership skills
  • Empower through engaging the guys in serving others in their community
  • Mentor these young men and equip them to become leaders in their school and their community.
  • Utilize the camp and the GPS building as safe places where the boys, GMS staff, mentors and Amigo staff can engage in activities that nurture confidence and personal growth.
