FAQ
Do we need to register:
Yes, so that we can have enough supplies gathered for each family group or "bubble group" to build their own shelter.
Is there a cost?
No set fee, we simply encourage you to make a donation to support the overall ministry of Amigo Centre.
If interested in getting away for the weekend, inquire about availability and rates for staying in the Retreat Center or West Shore Lodge.
Details to Note:
We will be outdoors for the entire session.
Instruction of basic knots and winter survival skills will be included in the session.
Teams will use natural materials and be given two tarps and ropes to use in constructing their shelter.
Hot drinks and snacks will be provided.
Session is open to people of all ages.
Do we need to bring anything?
Bring a travel mug for each member of your group.
Warm, waterproof gloves or mittens are encouraged.
Wear layers of clothing so that you do not get too cold while being inactive and don't overheat while constructing your shelter. If you have questions about this, don't hesitate to email Cheryl.
What about the weather?
If it is raining or dangerously cold we will cancel.
When you register we will ask for a phone number and email address to use in communicating with you.
Will there be bathrooms available?
Yes, we will have our bathhouse open. We ask that you please sanitize your hands prior to entering and after exiting. There will not be someone sanitizing restrooms between uses. Masks will also be required inside the restrooms. Our bathhouse has an exhaust system that was installed for muggy summer weather but also works great for venting during a pandemic!
What other COVID related precautions will be in place?
Physical distancing will be practiced during instruction times. Each person will be given rope to use to practice knot tying. Groups will be physically distanced during shelter construction.
Wearing a mask or using a thick scarf is a great way to keep your face warm in the winter too.
