Winter Youth Retreats/Peace Camp
Winter youth retreats are just what the name suggests... A time and a place for Jr. and Sr. High Schoolers to get away from the "blahs" of winter school season with their church youth groups. We provide the food, lodging and bring in a great Christian speaker and band. Youth bring their energy & courage to take on the tube runs, make lots of new friends and to be challenged spiritually. Youth leaders provide guidance, support and direction for their youth... and everyone has an amazing time!
This year we will be adding an event during the Winter Camp Season called "Peace Camp." It's a chance for students to get a fresh new perspective on peace and further their personal study of what representing Christ looks like in today's culture. Steve Wiebe Johnson will be the speaker for this event and Jess Buller will be helping to plan this event. This will not be your typical Winter Youth Retreat format.
This additional Winter Youth Retreat comes out of a partnership with Mennonite Central Committee, with the specific focus of community building. Using stories from the book of Luke, we will reflect on the importance and validity of our own unique stories and how we participate in and belong to God’s community. Youth will be encouraged to identify their own gifts and reflect on how they participate in creating the kind of community Christ invites us to through workshops on four important pillars of community – gratitude, truth telling, promise keeping and hospitality. Bring your ENTIRE (junior youth and senior youth!!) youth group to camp this February and join us in celebrating the beauty of God’s community!
