E3 - Survival Skills for Life
We believe that by engaging, empowering and equipping youth, we position them for success and we strengthen our communities!
E³ - Survival Skills for Life Program is a partnership between Amigo Centre, Goshen Middle School and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Elkhart County
What: E³ (engaging, equipping, empowering) - Survival Skills for Life Program
Who: each year we accept eighteen at-risk boys into the program who are entering 6th grade at Goshen Middle School (up to 2 boys from each of the seven Goshen Elementary Schools, plus 4 additional individuals)
When & Where:
Survival Camp at Amigo Centre (Sturgis, MI) - a three day, 2 night camping experience each summer.
Monthly Sessions at Goshen Middle School: During the school year, we meet monthly for a 2 ¼ hour session, held from 3:45-6:00 pm. For the 2016-2017 school year the 6th grade guys are meeting on the 2nd Tuesday, the 7th grade guys are meeting on the 2nd Friday, and the 8th grade group is meeting on the 3rd Friday of each month.
End of Year Celebration at Goshen Middle School - an event in May that provides an opportunity for the guys to share with the community and their families the skills they've learned during the year.
How: staffed with a mix of Amigo staff, Goshen Middle School staff and “Amigo Bigs” (mentors approved through Goshen Middle School. If you want to engage in activities with your mentee outside of the E3 sessions you can do so by becoming a community-based mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Elkhart County, IN)
Why: by empowering, engaging and equipping at-risk youth we give them tools to be successful leaders in their school and community.
