Kent Miller is a denominational youth minister for Mennonite Church USA. In this role Kent works to build relationships with Youth Ministry Council, Young Adult Fellowship, Mennonite Camping Association and the campus pastors of the Mennonite institutions of higher education. Kent focuses on establishing connections amongst these youth focused organizations in order for them to share resources between themselves and the denomination.
Kent and his wife Jill served with Mennonite Voluntary Service in Albany, Ore. Later, Kent served as pastor of youth and young adults at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church in Goshen, Ind., as a recruiter for Mennonite Mission Network and as executive director of Amigo Centre.
Continuing to attend Yellow Creek Mennonite Church, Kent teaches adult and youth Sunday school, helps on the youth worship team and volunteers with Goshen Interfaith Hospitality Network. He is also a co-chair of the Michiana Mennonite MCC Relief Sale board.
Kent studied at Manchester College, Indiana University South Bend and Goshen College. He plans to enroll in Goshen College’s organizational leadership program, and later attend Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary.
A new grandfather, Kent enjoys spending time with his 21-month-old granddaughter, the child of his oldest daughter Addie, and her husband Jared Leaman. Kent’s youngest daughter Danae is a second year student at Goshen College.
Kent is able to deliver sermons, contribute to youth or adult retreats, share children’s stories and lead worship music in a number of different forms. Topics that interest him include youth and young adult culture, God’s will, practical Biblical application, social media, and music.
When Kent visits, he'll be focusing on "Livin' It Up!" and John 10:10
High School… Wow, so many decisions are asked of you. Decisions about how you’re going to live and what you’re going to do with your life… school, college, work. It makes us want to throw up our hands and say, “Just let me live my life!” This weekend we’ll explore what it means to faithfully “live it up” at church, school, home, at the mall, on the playing field… where ever you find yourself. Together we’ll start to understand how to live our life in the way God’s calling us to… Because when we know Jesus, we can “live it up” like no one else!
